RSS Rich Site Summary
RSS - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

RSS (and this website) have become the way in which I process information on the web. For a long time, I have maintained a list of feeds within Google reader. When browsing the web, if I find a website interesting; I will look for an RSS feed so that I can store off that url for future use. I don't often read the articles that come out of my reader. It is more a Hansel and Gretel scheme, where I store off something to remind me of my prior visit. Tagging the feed with related words provides a word map over the links.

So what am I left with. A notice of termination. A OPML export. (hey, I'm grateful to have the data available I suppose)
When I began using Google Reader long ago, I thought I was being like Hansel laying a trail of white pebbles. Something lasting...but as of July 15th 2013 the data won't be available through takeout anymore. They don't even archive the data for more than a year? Breadcrumbs indeed.

So what do I do? Export my data and send it all over the internet of course. Now I've got my feeds imported within multiple external rss readers. Each of them importing partial information, some of the feeds don't make it through using each of the external services I've tried. Or the reader wants to be something more than what I want. I just want a database of feeds with word association. Reading is a secondary goal.

Round tripping the data from import to export was important to me, as going through this loss of service has caused a bit of frustration. Many of the services do not provide export...making the service a no go from the get go.

I'm currently interested in Tiny-Tiny-RSS, the import was successful, with some of the feeds and tags not showing up. Trying to validate the import and find the discrepancies from reader's subscriber.xml export....

This will get the code into eclipse. I had to do a little fiddling with the android-support-v4.jar that came with each of the projects, I simply removed the offending jars from the projects and pasted the jar that came with org.fox.ttrss. This provided me with a working build.
