xpra - screen for X - Xpra is 'screen for X', and more: it allows you to run X programs, usually on a remote host and direct their display to your local machine. It also allows you to display existing desktop sessions remotely.
Window Switch - includes xpra
BurntSushi/wingo - A fully-featured X window manager written in Go.
xmonad | the tiling window manager that rocks - dynamically tiling X11 window manager that is written and configured in Haskell.
XQuartz - A version of the X.Org X Window System that runs on OS X.

Some people may think this is more ubuntu related but here are a few shortcuts on x11:
Ctrl-Alt-T : Open a terminal window
Alt-F7 : Move window, useful for when you want to move an app which is off screen to another screen.
