Facts on the human body

I love facts on the human body because we really are amazing machines. Many times I sit and think about how simple our technology is today. When I compare technology today with the human body, it makes me think abacus and slide rule.

Neurocosmology

world view that ones view of the universe is restrained by the nervous system's ability to process information

emergent fusion of information at all levels of life.

Information gathering technologies will ultimately be limited in their ability to make a difference to the extent that the human user is limited in ability to exploit/visualize/understand that information.

Answering questions such as 'What is the role and purpose of life and consciousness within the context of the greater reality of the universe?' Yet there also exists a separate but growing scientific movement for studying consciousness alone in its many different unique aspects, while the main thrust of physical consciousness studies is to find the neural correlates of consciousness. At this level of scientific inquiry physics is used to model consciousness as a 'thing' separate from the material brain but somehow dependent on the brain. In other words, physics is not only used to study the observable external world represented by the material universe (including the material body and brain), but also the internal world created by mind and consciousness that is interpreting our individual observations of the external material world. This dichotomy between the internal and external world of consciousness represents the central problem of neurocosmology.

embodied cognition and disembodied minds

dis·em·bod·ied - separated from or existing without the body.
Mind - Wikipedia
it seems obvious we need to have a body to have a physical brain and mind. but not so obvious that the same physical brain manifests a/many disembodied mind(s) which communicate and interact with other physical cognitive minds. technology provides humanity's physical mind with the ability to type/communicate words/thoughts once, but many machines/minds consume it ad infinitum, or until sometime breaks...
Embodied cognition - Wikipedia - In philosophy, the embodied mind thesis holds that the nature of the human mind is largely determined by the form of the human body.
A Brief Guide to Embodied Cognition: Why You Are Not Your Brain | Guest Blog, Scientific American Blog Network - our cognition isn't confined to our cortices.
The Disembodied Mind | Not Just CuteNot Just Cute - "What does it mean to learn biology strictly from words, pictures, and other symbols, without first having rich, personal experience with plant and animal life? Or to learn principles of physics — principles such as velocity, force, and balance — without lots of experience throwing, hammering, seesawing, and climbing? The child learns symbols, but without the personal, bodily, sensory experiences that make the symbols meaningful."
Steinblog: Incompatibilities and Contradictions in Disembodied Experiences: A Possible Implication for the Law of Karma
Disembodied Cognition, or Putting Your Self Out There – Mixing Memory - According to many theories of embodied cognition (particularly type 5), perception is designed to facilitate bodily action, and therefore perception and movement are deeply connected. The connection between perception and action is dependent on where we represent the self in space.
