Michelangelo

Lately I've been into buying real art. I'm tired of buying cheap posters and I wanted something that was created by a human hand.

I've always loved Michelangelo's Creation of Adam. I don't know what it is about the painting, but I've got a fond love for it. I think Michelangelo had an amazing ability to draw the human form in a true to life perspective.

Well I found a source for cheap art, ebay! I found two huge paintings of Michelangelo's done by someone in a foreign land for cheap I'm sure. It was only like 20 bucks for each painting (and that is shipped)! They are very big too, I think it measures 36x48. So you actually have more invested in the frame than in the picture. I found a local framing shop to cut and frame them for $60.

I got them from In-Stock-Art

So the art turned out to be really nice. I'm very happy with it. The other night I was thinking about the hands....and I thought it would be cool to merge a robotic or machine type arm and fingers into adams hand.

I had been thinking of all sorts of ways that I could do it, but I thought it would be best to use the extra canvas I had left over from the damaged shipping.

My friend Sam Westlake actually painted the concept for me, which was really exciting for me because I've never had anyone draw anything like this before. Thank you so much Sam!

The painting is wonderful, it gets the idea across. However, it isn't exactly like I wanted. (I was hoping to do more of a merged human robotic arm...where you can see human skin and muscle with robotic portions uncovered throughout...maybe another revision :) !)
