Scheme and Lisp are very cool beasts indeed. A functional programming language leads to different ways of thinking/attacking a problem. Every programmer should be able to express their ideas using both imperative and functional styles of thought.

The Scheme Programming Language
GNU Guile (About Guile) - Guile is an interpreter and compiler for the Scheme programming language, a clean and elegant dialect of Lisp.

impromptu - is an OSX programming environment for composers, sound artists, VJ's and graphic artists with an interest in live or interactive programming. Impromptu is a Scheme language environment, a member of the Lisp family of languages.
