I'm a strong supporter of paperless offices. I believe that the reduction of paperwork can really be a benefit to everyone.

This page will house some of my notes for taking my home and office paperless.


HP LaserJet 3390
Most important of all, I must get a nice auto document feeder. I decided to give HP's all-in-one network scanner a try. They claim they support TWAIN and WIA, but the drivers to install them in WinXP is a pain. I don't know what to do yet on Vista. Linux is also a project. we'll see. I have this feeling I'm going to be SOL.

Linux actually seems to have a bit of scanner support! SANE

Leptonica - open source site containing software that is broadly useful for image processing and image analysis applications.
ocropus - is a state-of-the-art document analysis and OCR system, featuring pluggable layout analysis, pluggable character recognition, statistical natural language modeling, and multi-lingual capabilities.
tesseract-ocr - An OCR Engine that was developed at HP Labs between 1985 and 1995... and now at Google.
